Thanksgiving seems an appropriate time for celebrities to give back to those less fortunate.

So that's exactly what Neil Patrick Harris and Bella Thorne did on Wednesday, as they joined a gaggle of other stars in Downtown Los Angeles at the LA Mission to help dish up hot meals for the homeless on the eve of the US holiday.

The 40-year-old How I Met Your Mother actor and the 16-year-old Disney star slipped on red aprons and posed for happy snaps as they got their hands dirty alongside hundreds of other volunteers.

A bright and enthusiastic looking Neil got the job of dealing with slices of turkey in the organization's large kitchen, working in a production line alongside other giving individuals.
The canny conjurer was acutely focused on his protein-heavy task, clearly taking his role in helping the needy very seriously as he rolled up his sleeves and worked his magic in the kitchen.

Tweeting about his involvement, the Magic Castle president wrote: 'Prepping the turkey for @TheLAMission 's annual thanksgiving meal. A wonderful organization. #thankful.'

The charitable event is arranged each year by the LA Mission, which is set up permanently in Downtown Los Angeles - in the Skid Row area - and hundreds of volunteers flock to their regular food drives to help out the needy.
According to their website, the LA Mission serves up a whopping 3000 pounds of turkey and an equally incredible amount of vegetables to those who cannot afford a hot meal.

Hopefully it was an eye-opening experience for the bling-loving TV personality, who was spotted wearing gloves and an apron as she handed out a plate of food to a table of those in need.
